PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Gomes (ranked 5624 p4p, 4982 weight class) and Boyd Braddock (ranked 596 p4p, 563 weight class). Braddock has chosen I'm Southern - The Cadillac Three as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes's corner calls for a 1-2. Gomes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Braddock throws a jab but it's blocked by Gomes.
Gomes scores with a punch to the head.
Braddock avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gomes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gomes takes a swing at Braddock's ribcage but misses.

Gomes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
David Gomes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomes scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Braddock doesn't seem bothered though.

Braddock lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gomes drops Braddock with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Braddock looks back up at him and smiles so Gomes waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
