The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menday shoots in and gets a takedown into Coppola's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Coppola wants to stand but Menday is controlling the position.
Menday working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Coppola's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Menday has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Menday loads up on a big left hand. Coppola felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Menday looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Coppola can't hide his disappointment, as Menday celebrates the victory.
