Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Martinez (ranked 4826 p4p, 4729 weight class) and Jhanlo Sanguiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanguiao misses with a double jab.
As Sanguiao backs away, Martinez returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Martinez has Sanguiao up against the cage in a clinch.

Martinez pulls guard.
Sanguiao slips nicely into half guard.
Sanguiao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martinez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sanguiao seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez has his foot on Sanguiao's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sanguiao works his way back into a safe position though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Martinez has Sanguiao pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Sanguiao goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sanguiao will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Left hook, right uppercut from Sanguiao.
Sanguiao feints a jab promting Martinez to slip. Sanguiao then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Martinez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sanguiao throws a series of punches but Martinez moves out of range.
Sanguiao throws a right and a left that both miss.

Martinez moves into the clinch successfully.

Martinez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Martinez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sanguiao, pushing him back against the cage.

Martinez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sanguiao can't fight it off and eventually Martinez manages to take the fight to the floor. Sanguiao looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sanguiao is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Martinez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Martinez is sitting in close to Sanguiao's body. Sanguiao has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Martinez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Martinez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Sanguiao.
