Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Valiev (ranked 4053 p4p, 2771 weight class) and Sanka Aisland (ranked 490 p4p, 359 weight class). Valiev comes to the cage accompanied by Venom - Eminem. Viktor Valiev has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sanka Aisland!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aisland tries to clinch there but Valiev circles away.
Valiev throws a series of punches but Aisland avoids them all with ease.
Valiev looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Valiev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Aisland moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Valiev throws a head kick that misses.
Aisland has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Valiev is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Aisland stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Valiev.
Valiev throws a right and a left that Aisland avoids nicely.

Aisland shoots in and gets a takedown into Valiev's guard.
Valiev is trying to control the position but Aisland postures up.

Aisland stands up and waves to Valiev to follow him.
Aisland fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Aisland fails with an attempt to clinch.
Valiev shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Aisland eats them both and turns towards Valiev to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aisland shoots in for a takedown but Valiev shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Valiev appears to be looking for a big counter.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aisland misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Aisland tries to clinch but Valiev is having none of it.
Aisland looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Viktor Valiev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sanka Aisland.
Valiev fails to land with a series of punches.
Aisland is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Aisland throws a head kick that misses.
Aisland checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Valiev scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Aisland shoots in and drives through. Valiev sprawls well.
Aisland shoots in looking for a takedown but Valiev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aisland's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Aisland closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aisland lands in his opponent's guard.

Aisland content to stall in guard here.
Valiev is looking to stand up but Aisland isn't so interested in that idea.
Aisland trying to control the position from guard on top but Valiev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Valiev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Valiev is working hard here to advance position.
Valiev being controlled here, momentarily.
Aisland's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Aisland wants to control from the top but Valiev keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Aisland tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valiev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A telegraphed right hand from Valiev misses the target.
Aisland shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Valiev defends it nicely.
As Aisland looks to move away, Valiev throws a big counter combo but Aisland just gets out of the way.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A punch combination from Valiev misses.
Sanka Aisland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown attempt by Aisland or perhaps it was just good defense by Valiev, which made it look bad.

Aisland shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Valiev napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Aisland is trying to get an arm triangle but Valiev is defending well.
A lull in the action here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Aisland throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Valiev was covering up waiting for the punch and Aisland finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Valiev is wriggling around but Aisland manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Aisland frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aisland wants to control the pace but Valiev is squirming around nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Aisland is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Aisland extends the arm and Valiev is forced to tap!
