PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charles Hammers (ranked 4606 p4p, 4701 weight class) and Finlay Cameron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hammers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to hammer time. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Finlay Cameron!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammers takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Cameron tries to bum rush Hammers with a series of wild strikes but Hammers uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hammers is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cameron sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hammers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cameron as he jumps to the side.
Cameron unleashes a big counter combination but Hammers bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Hammers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cameron tries to avoid it but Hammers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cameron to the ground. Cameron escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cameron unleashes a big counter combination but Hammers bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Cameron goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Charles Hammers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hammers.

Cameron moves into the clinch successfully.

Cameron escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hammers shoots in for a double leg but Cameron sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Cameron counters with a series of strikes. Hammers will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hammers tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cameron defends well and Hammers ends up having to push Cameron into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cameron slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hammers is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cameron's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hammers has a hand on Cameron's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cameron takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Cameron moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hammers has worked his arm free - good work by Hammers!

Cameron cracks Hammers with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Cameron has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cameron shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hammers eats them both and turns towards Cameron to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Finlay Cameron is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Finlay Cameron comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cameron has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
