Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Boston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Cooks!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Boston.
Cooks changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Boston throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Boston with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Boston throws a sloppy body shot
and Cooks counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cooks is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Boston shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cooks defends it nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Cooks counters with a series of strikes. Boston will be more careful next time no doubt.
The fighters circling - Cooks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cooks has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Cooks swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Boston.
Cooks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Boston.
Cooks missing with a left hand there. Boston was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Boston has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boston there as he acknowledges the shot.
Boston moves away from the strike by Cooks.
Boston misses with a takedown
and Cooks counters with a stiff right hand.
Boston misses with a few strikes there.
Cooks might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Boston throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cooks's waist but Cooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boston off to one side.

Cooks lands with a nice body punch.
Cooks is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boston had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Cooks tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Boston is able to avoid easily.

Boston shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cooks is trying to defend but Boston finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Boston looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cooks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boston working over Cooks with some ground and pound. Cooks looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Boston is nestled in close to Cooks, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Boston works his way into side control.

Cooks is working to avoid the ground and pound but Boston connects with a decent elbow.
Boston scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cooks to see if he's OK.
Boston looks up at the clock and then as Cooks takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Boston smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boston is working Cooks over with some ground and pound from side control.

Boston in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Boston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cooks stuffs the takedown.
Boston ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cooks moves away.
Michael Boston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cooks was well out of range. Poor timing from Boston.
Boston throws a poor cross that misses
and Cooks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cooks misses the jab.
Cooks walks into a jab.
Boston takes one to the chin there.
Boston throws a nice looking combination but Cooks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cooks throws a right and a left that both miss.

Boston closes the distance and clinches up with Cooks, looking for a takedown. Boston pushes Cooks against the cage but Cooks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cooks is breathing heavily.
Cooks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boston.

Cooks cracks Boston with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Boston fails to land with a series of punches.
Cooks misses with a few strikes there.
Cooks ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boston misses with a takedown attempt - Cooks sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Boston throws the left hand but Cooks avoids the punch easily.

Boston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cooks tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Boston manages to move to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A very excited looking Michael Boston rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
