Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tykas Wong (ranked 24912 p4p, 3897 weight class) and Pauly Short (ranked 0 p4p, 413 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Tykas Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pauly Short!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Short uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wong.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Short! But no joy.
Wong misses the shot to the body.
Short looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Wong swings widly with a right hand

and Short counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Short is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Short trying to control from Wong's half guard. Wong has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wong controls Short momentarily but Short frees himself.
Short must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Short is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wong is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wong has escaped and now he's on top!

Short had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wong defends it easily.

Wong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Short has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wong has managed to get both his arms back between Short's legs - danger averted.

Short escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Short looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Wong could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Short dives in for a single leg takedown but Wong sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Short seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Wong has recovered full guard.

Short drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Short has Wong in his guard.


Short is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Short working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Short can do anything to dispel that myth.

Short has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wong is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Short.

Wong is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Wong is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Short.
