Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Ruas (ranked 1822 p4p, 2359 weight class) and Banito Gianni (ranked 271 p4p, 330 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rickson Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Banito Gianni!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gianni is fending him off so far but Ruas persists. Nope, Gianni circles away and we're back to standing.

It looks like Rickson Ruas has been cut.

Gianni moves into the clinch.
Gianni fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Gianni lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ruas is trying to pull guard but Gianni turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Ruas wants the takedown. Gianni is fighting it off but Ruas persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gianni's guard against the cage.

Gianni pulls Ruas in close to prevent any damage.
Ruas throws a big elbow that misses.

Gianni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ruas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gianni swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gianni felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Ruas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Ruas is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ruas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ruas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gianni can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ruas slows the pace down in half guard.

Ruas is working for a kimura but Gianni is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ruas trying to control the action but Gianni is working from the bottom.

Ruas is trying to work for a kimura but Gianni is defending well.

Ruas looking for a submission but Gianni manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Ruas throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ruas looking to sit in guard and control but Gianni gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ruas is trying to keep Gianni in close.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A lazy left from Gianni finds it's target.
Gianni misses with a hook. Ruas ducked under it nicely.

Gianni fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ruas, pushing him back against the cage.
Gianni lands with a short shot to the head.

Ruas has picked Gianni up - he's going for a ride! Ruas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Ruas has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gianni defend it? Ruas steps over the head and cranks it - Gianni is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ruas!
