PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Steiner (ranked 6734 p4p, 2688 weight class) and Bong Ripper (ranked 208 p4p, 83 weight class). Steiner comes to the cage accompanied by STEINER BROS INTRO SONG. Ripper has chosen Day dreaming fazes by KOTTONMOUTHKINGS as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Steiner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bong Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steiner fails with a takedown attempt.
Ripper just misses with a punch to the body.
Steiner definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Steiner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ripper throws out the jab.
Ripper jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Steiner misses with a body punch
and Ripper counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Steiner thinking.
Steiner takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Scott Steiner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ripper throws a hook to the side of Steiner's head but Steiner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Steiner throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ripper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Steiner is in Ripper's guard.
Steiner wants to pass the guard but Ripper is keeping the position.
Ripper can't keep his opponent in guard - Steiner advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Steiner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steiner stops Ripper from getting back to his feet.
Ripper looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Steiner seems to be working for a kimura but Ripper defends the submission attempt.

Steiner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ripper doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Steiner.

Steiner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ripper avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Steiner.

Steiner is working for a submission of some sort.

Steiner is working for a kimura but Ripper is defending it quite comfortably.
Steiner is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Steiner looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Steiner is working for a guillotine from mount but Ripper frees his head quite easily.

Steiner goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ripper is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steiner is controlling Ripper's posture.
Ripper wants to stand but Steiner is controlling his posture from full guard.
Steiner pulls Ripper in to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ripper wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Steiner's closed guard. He's half up but Steiner has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Steiner pivots and extends the arm, Ripper falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Steiner! Well done that man!
