PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Moncontour Chevrolet (ranked 2006 p4p, 2293 weight class) and Ernesto Sanchez (ranked 282 p4p, 317 weight class). Ernesto Sanchez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ernesto Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chevrolet connects with an inside leg kick.
Chevrolet leaves Sanchez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Chevrolet connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sanchez's hands.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Chevrolet tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chevrolet manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Moncontour Chevrolet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ernesto Sanchez.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chevrolet sprawls well. Chevrolet wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.

Ernesto Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt - Chevrolet sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've been told by Chevrolet's head coaches at FIST OF FURY that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Moncontour Chevrolet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sanchez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Chevrolet turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown but Chevrolet manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sanchez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Chevrolet throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sanchez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Chevrolet moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Chevrolet feints and then cracks Sanchez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sanchez down.
Chevrolet looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chevrolet avoids it really well and circles away.
Chevrolet appears to be looking for a big counter.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but Chevrolet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sanchez is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Chevrolet fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Sanchez to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Sanchez looks to clinch but Chevrolet throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Sanchez taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
