Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between KO Jacckson (ranked 4624 p4p, 3635 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields has chosen Seven Nation Army as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, KO Jacckson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Shields!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields tries for a takedown but Jacckson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
It looked like Jacckson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shields tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jacckson defends well and Shields ends up having to push Jacckson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Shields has his takedown stuffed

and Jacckson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shields won't be happy with that.
KO Jacckson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Shields.
Shields tries to buck Jacckson off but Jacckson is having none of it.

You can see the frustration on Shields's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Shields is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Jacckson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shields defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jacckson winds up and cracks Shields with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Shields is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jacckson pulls his head out easily.
Shields moves into full guard.
Shields utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shields controls Jacckson momentarily but Jacckson frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jacckson connects with a couple of short punches.
Shields not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jacckson lands a couple of digs.
Jacckson throws a big right hand that misses.
Shields trying to control the position.
Jacckson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shields on the ground.
Shields has momentary wrist control but Jacckson slips an elbow through the middle.

Shields is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jacckson rolls with it to try and escape but Shields cranks on the arm and Jacckson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jake Shields!
Jake Shields decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
