PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cesare Borgia (ranked 293 p4p, 622 weight class) and Tatu Kurri (ranked 45 p4p, 89 weight class). Borgia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Eye Of The Tiger. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cesare Borgia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tatu Kurri!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borgia cracks Kurri with a good jab.
Borgia steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kurri.
Kurri keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Borgia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Borgia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kurri has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Borgia is working away from the top position though.

Kurri is looking to control Borgia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kurri avoid being mounted?
Borgia slips a nice elbow through Kurri's hands, connecting with Kurri's forehead.

Borgia throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kurri stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Borgia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kurri has escaped the position, nice work there.

I was talking to Borgia's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Borgia, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
