Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean McCarthy (ranked 4188 p4p, 5102 weight class) and Hercules Simbolon (ranked 514 p4p, 557 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy misses with a double jab
and Simbolon counters with a nice uppercut.

Simbolon has McCarthy up against the cage in a clinch.

McCarthy pulls guard.

McCarthy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simbolon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Simbolon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
McCarthy pulls Simbolon in close to prevent any damage.
McCarthy doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy has momentary wrist control but Simbolon slips an elbow through the middle.
Simbolon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Simbolon tries to free his leg and advance position but McCarthy is retaining full guard.

McCarthy has his foot on Simbolon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Simbolon works his way back into a safe position though.

Simbolon is looking to advance position but McCarthy has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

McCarthy wants to control the pace but Simbolon is squirming around nicely.

McCarthy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Simbolon has worked his arm free - good work by Simbolon!
Simbolon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McCarthy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Simbolon tries to bench press McCarthy off him but McCarthy keeps the position.
McCarthy lands an elbow.
Simbolon is trying to control McCarthy's posture but McCarthy avoids it.
McCarthy scores with punches from side control.
McCarthy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McCarthy slows the pace down.
McCarthy is looking to take a break and control but Simbolon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Simbolon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCarthy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McCarthy has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Simbolon is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. McCarthy yanks on the arm and Simbolon is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by McCarthy.
