The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright shoots for a double leg takedown but Car sprawls well. He's pushed Cartwright's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cartwright closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Cartwright is trying to drag Car to the mat but Car just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cartwright has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Car avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Car's coach down at London MMA Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Car's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Car counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Cartwright wants to clinch up but Car keeps it at a distance.
It seemed like Car was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Cartwright is rocked!
Cartwright walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Cartwright limp body while Car jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

During a confident post fight interview, New Car thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
