Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Destro Vonstein (ranked 2505 p4p, 1980 weight class) and Landau Aisland (ranked 305 p4p, 249 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Destro Vonstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Landau Aisland!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vonstein shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aisland napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Aisland is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Aisland regains half guard, as Vonstein was trying to land strikes.
Vonstein stalling.
Vonstein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aisland actively working from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vonstein thows a huge punch but Aisland dodges it nicely.

Aisland drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aisland jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vonstein manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aisland manages to get himself to full guard.

Vonstein throws an elbow that misses. Aisland uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vonstein's guard. Nice move by Aisland!

Aisland is looking to work some ground and pound but Vonstein has wrist control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Aisland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vonstein has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aisland is working away from the top position though.

Aisland seems to be working for a kimura but Vonstein defends the submission attempt.

Aisland looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Aisland got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vonstein has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aisland has managed to get both his arms back between Vonstein's legs - danger averted.
Vonstein is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've been hearing good reports from Vonstein's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vonstein doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Destro Vonstein will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Aisland shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vonstein's guard.

Landau Aisland showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Aisland has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
