The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markarian connects with a looping right hand.
Markarian throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Martel now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Markarian moves away from the strike by Martel.
It looked like Markarian wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Markarian displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Martel throws out the jab.
Martel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A little feinted left hand from Markarian on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Martel throws a lazy uppercut
and Markarian counters with a stiff right hand.
Martel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Markarian was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A slow jab from Markarian misses its intended target.
Martel throws a body shot but no joy.
Markarian connects with a body shot that sends Martel's belly button to the back.
Markarian lands a slapping body shot.
Markarian lands with a straight right. Martel didn't see that one coming.
Martel misses with a straight right.
Markarian scores with a nice right hand.

Martel forces Markarian back against the cage and clinches.
Markarian digs a right hand underneath Martel's ribcage. Martel let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A frustrated look appears on Markarian's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Markarian wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Markarian throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Martel throws a right hand that misses
and Markarian counters with a nice body shot.
Martel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Martel looks winded!
Markarian lands with a right hand.
Markarian uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Markarian comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Markarian scores with a jab to the jaw.
Martel takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Markarian looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Markarian throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Martel on the side of the head.
Markarian sends Martel crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Markarian is motioning to the referee to let Martel up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Martel is rocked!
Rick Martel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Markarian drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Martel right on the button. Martel goes down! Markarian follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Markarian gets the win via TKO!
