Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Garcilazo (ranked 2811 p4p, 2919 weight class) and Frankie DeLuna (ranked 180 p4p, 185 weight class). Garcilazo comes to the cage accompanied by Pretty fly for a whiteguy by The Offspring . Frankie DeLuna will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Garcilazo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frankie DeLuna!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcilazo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Garcilazo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeLuna is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
DeLuna is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Garcilazo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Garcilazo trying to control the position from guard on top but DeLuna is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DeLuna has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Garcilazo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

DeLuna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
DeLuna fails with a takedown attempt.
DeLuna is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
DeLuna closes the distance but Garcilazo moves to the side

and Garcilazo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Garcilazo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by DeLuna, who protects the arm well.
DeLuna is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Garcilazo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
DeLuna is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Garcilazo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. DeLuna knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
DeLuna is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Garcilazo asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Garcilazo wants to control but DeLuna is keeping him busy.

Garcilazo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Garcilazo has control of DeLuna's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and DeLuna regains control of the situation pretty easily.
DeLuna wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Garcilazo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but DeLuna is surviving well by controlling Garcilazo's body position as best he can.

Garcilazo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. DeLuna can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Garcilazo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. DeLuna looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Garcilazo! Submission of the night perhaps?
