PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dinesh Carey (ranked 4648 p4p, 4608 weight class) and Jay Sossy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sossy has chosen Sauce it up as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dinesh Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Sossy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sossy enables Carey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sossy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Carey won't allow Sossy to sweep him here.
Carey controlling from the top position.
Carey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carey decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sossy, up you get!

Carey shoots in but no luck this time.
Sossy tries to clinch but Carey is having none of it.
Sossy avoids the head kick by Carey.
Sossy follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Carey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Carey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dinesh Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sossy wants to clinch up but Carey keeps it at a distance.
Sossy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sossy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sossy scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Sossy tries to clinch there but Carey circles away.
Carey seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Sossy lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Sossy throws a sloppy head kick and Carey moves out of range easily.
Sossy wants to clinch up but Carey keeps it at a distance.

Sossy gets caught napping as Carey dives in and scores a takedown. Sossy manages to retain guard.

Carey stands up from Sossy's guard - Carey perhaps looking for a knockout.

Sossy instigates a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sossy lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Sossy moves to clinch but Carey breaks away

and Carey counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Carey is pressing down on Sossy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sossy is holding on for now.
Sossy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sossy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carey's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Carey throws a strike but Sossy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sossy wants to stand but Carey is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sossy is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Sossy postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sossy stops Carey from standing up.
Carey wants to improve his position but instead Sossy has moved into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carey trying to control but Sossy postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dinesh Carey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sossy tries to clinch but Carey is having none of it.
A slapping body kick lands there for Sossy.
Sossy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sossy misses with a low kick.

Carey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sossy, pushing him back against the cage.

Carey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sossy fails in his attempt to clinch.
Carey moves out of range of the body kick from Sossy.
Sossy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carey misses with a series of wild punches.

Carey has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sossy tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carey avoids it.

Carey is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sossy can't fight it off and eventually Carey manages to take the fight to the floor. Sossy looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sossy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carey controls the pace.
Carey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sossy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sossy wants to sweep here but Carey controlling him for the moment.

Carey drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sossy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carey has Sossy in his guard.

Sossy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sossy blocks a head kick by Carey.
Carey shoots in but Sossy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sossy lands a head kick. Carey smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Sossy lands a high kick!

Carey is rocked!
Look low, kick high! Sossy uses the oldest trick in the book to send Carey tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Sossy is absolutely delighted - when Carey wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jay Sossy!
