The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svenson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sammules quickly recovers to half guard.
Sammules slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sammules wants to sweep but no luck.
Sammules is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sammules is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Svenson defends well.
Svenson drops back looking for a leg! Sammules is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sammules manages to kick Svenson off! Svenson jumps back into Sammules's guard.

Sammules bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Svenson's guard.
