PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Willy Whiskers (ranked 5120 p4p, 5122 weight class) and Sum Ting Wong (ranked 282 p4p, 283 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whiskers throws a series of punches but Wong avoids them all with ease.
Wong feints the counter takedown.
Whiskers thuds a left hand into Wong's body.
Whiskers throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wong counters with a nice double leg into side control. Whiskers won't be happy with that.

Wong thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wong works to advance to full mount. Whiskers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Wong jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Whiskers is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Whiskers and Wong has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Wong tries for a kimura but Whiskers is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wong swings around for an armbar but Whiskers sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wong's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Whiskers manages to get himself to full guard.

Wong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whiskers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wong is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Wong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wong tries to free his leg and advance position but Whiskers is retaining full guard.
Wong pushes down on Whiskers's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Wong is looking for a kimura but Whiskers is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wong to get the leverage.

Wong seems to be looking for submissions.

Wong wants to work for an arm triangle but Whiskers is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Wong tries to pass to full mount but Whiskers defends it.
Wong passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Whiskers!

Wong has control of Whiskers's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Whiskers regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Whiskers has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Wong's lack of action.

Wong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Whiskers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Whiskers wants to control but Wong postures up.

A right-left combo lands from Whiskers.
Whiskers throws a combination that misses

and Wong counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Wong stops Whiskers from getting back to his feet.

Wong uses his free foot to push down on Whiskers's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Whiskers.

Wong goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Whiskers turns into him and now he's in Wong's guard.
Wong lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wong has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Whiskers defend it? Wong steps over the head and cranks it - Whiskers is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wong!
