PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tim Corsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ferone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corsi comes into the arena with Womanizer by Britney Spears blaring out of the sound system. Tim Corsi had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Tim Corsi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Corsi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Ferone!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corsi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ferone looks to score with a jab to the body but Corsi is just out of range.
No luck for Corsi with that takedown attempt.
A solid leg kick lands there for Corsi.
Corsi shoots in for a takedown but Ferone shows good takedown defense.
Ferone jabs at Corsi's body.
Corsi takes one on the chin but seems OK.


It looks like Tim Corsi has been cut.
Ferone uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ferone fails to land with a series of punches.
Corsi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No joy there for Ferone, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ferone getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Corsi avoids a punch combination nicely.

Corsi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Corsi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ferone's guard.
Corsi is breathing heavily.
Ferone is not content to let Corsi control the position.
Ferone wants to control but Corsi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Corsi thows a huge punch but Ferone dodges it nicely.
Corsi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ferone knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ferone is staying active underneath Corsi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ferone tries to get to full guard but Corsi has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ferone fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Corsi checks it well.
Corsi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Paul Ferone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Corsi tries to move into range but Ferone moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Corsi moves forwards but Ferone connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Corsi blocks a head kick by Ferone.
A head kick misses from Corsi.
Ferone misses with a leg kick
and Corsi finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
A left lands for Ferone.

A big head kick from Ferone and Corsi is sent sprawling to the canvas!


Corsi is rocked!


Tim Corsi's cut is getting worse.
Corsi could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corsi is trying to hold Ferone in close to prevent damage but Ferone has managed to pass into half guard.
Oh Corsi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Corsi is trying to escape back to his feet but Ferone uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Corsi seems to have got his legs back now.
Corsi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ferone is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corsi is trying to control Ferone's posture but Ferone avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Ferone dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tim Corsi's cut.
That's time! Corsi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ferone throws a low kick, looking for Corsi's leg but Corsi calmly moves out of range.
No joy there for Corsi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tim Corsi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ferone with a hook.
Corsi shoots for a takedown but Ferone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Corsi wants to clinch up but Ferone keeps it at a distance.
Ferone lands a glancing blow to the side of Corsi's head.
Ferone moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Corsi goes down! Can Ferone finish him!?
Ferone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ferone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ferone passes Corsi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ferone perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ferone decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Ferone.
Corsi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ferone's waist but Ferone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Corsi off to one side.
Nice shot by Ferone.


Tim Corsi's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Corsi shoots in for a takedown but Ferone shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Corsi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Corsi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ferone misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ferone is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


Jeez, Tim Corsi's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Ferone lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ferone misses with a head kick.
Ferone fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Corsi.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corsi checks the leg kick.
Ferone throws a shot to the body.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ferone!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tim Corsi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Paul Ferone!
