Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dk Vippus (ranked 5267 p4p, 2414 weight class) and Kataro Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dk Vippus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kataro Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vippus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kimura paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vippus dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kimura. That did some damage!

Vippus gets caught napping as Kimura dives in and scores a takedown. Vippus manages to retain guard.

Vippus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kimura is aware though and is defending well.
Kimura is stalling in the full guard.
Kimura slips nicely into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vippus trying to control from the bottom.

Kimura wants to free his trapped foot but Vippus is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Vippus is looking for a sweep. Kimura is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Vippus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kimura pulls his head out easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kimura displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vippus.

Kimura drives through with a takedown into Vippus's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kimura is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kimura passes Vippus's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kimura is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Vippus reverses the position - he's now on top in Kimura's guard.

Kimura is looking to stand up but Vippus isn't so interested in that idea.
Vippus trying to control the position from guard on top but Kimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kimura wants to get back to his feet but Vippus is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vippus tries to free his leg and advance position but Kimura is retaining full guard.
Vippus stops Kimura from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimura is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kimura can do anything to dispel that myth.
Vippus wants to pass the guard but Kimura is keeping the position.
Kimura wants to stand but Vippus is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kimura has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vippus.
Nice takedown defense from Vippus. No joy for Kimura on that attempt.
Vippus scores with a shot to the body.
Vippus cracks Kimura with a good jab.
Kimura will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kimura tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vippus defends well and Kimura ends up having to push Vippus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dk Vippus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kataro Kimura.
Vippus lands a head kick!

It looks like Kataro Kimura has been cut.
Vippus connects with a leg kick.
Vippus lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kimura misses with a takedown attempt - Vippus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vippus is looking for a counter combo.

Kimura shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kimura perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dk Vippus dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kataro Kimura's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Vippus fails with the takedown.
Kimura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vippus pinned against the cage. Vippus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kimura swats away the attempt to clinch by Vippus.

Kimura drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Vippus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vippus looking for a sweep but Kimura has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Kataro Kimura has got the better of the ground game so far.

Vippus tries to reverse the position but Kimura maintains control.

Vippus is trying desperately to improve position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The adventures of Kimura the control monster continue. Boring.
Vippus is looking to improve his position but Kimura isn't that keen on the idea.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kataro Kimura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Let's hope that Kimura has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vippus is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Kataro Kimura comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kimura has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
