Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Gatsby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, CJ Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gatsby on the side of the head.

It looks like Joe Gatsby has been cut.
Gatsby uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
Gatsby slips under a jab from Johnson.
Gatsby attempts a counter takedown but Johnson avoids it well and moves away.
Johnson swings widly with a right hand

and Gatsby counters with a takedown into side control.

Johnson throws Gatsby to one side and escapes!
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Gatsby does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gatsby half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Gatsby counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.
Gatsby stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Johnson holds on and takes a little breather.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Gatsby decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Gatsby has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

CJ Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson throws the left hand but Gatsby avoids the punch easily.
Johnson looks to land a right hand but Gatsby moved out of range.

Gatsby wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Gatsby.
Johnson cracks Gatsby with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
CJ Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gatsby changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Gatsby manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gatsby goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gatsby but great work by Johnson.

Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Gatsby drives through with a takedown into Johnson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Johnson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson leaves Gatsby with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

CJ Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Gatsby's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

CJ Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
