PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keith Schwerinn (ranked 4360 p4p, 4216 weight class) and Clay Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clay Mann told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schwerinn looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Schwerinn tries to pass to full mount but Mann defends it.
Mann tries to roll over but Schwerinn keeps him under control.
Schwerinn wants to pass to mount but Mann is defending the position.
Schwerinn missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mann has a hand on Schwerinn's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Schwerinn takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mann wants to hold on but Schwerinn pushes him away.
Mann keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Schwerinn in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Schwerinn is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mann can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Schwerinn wants to control the pace but Mann is squirming around nicely.
Mann is desperately trying to improve his position but Schwerinn has a good base and remains in mount.
Schwerinn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mann looks a forlorn figure.
Schwerinn avoids the attempt from Mann to control.
Mann tries to reverse the position but Schwerinn maintains control.
Schwerinn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
BOOM! Schwerinn connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mann is trying to escape the mount.

Schwerinn moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mann has worked his arm free - good work by Mann!
Schwerinn lands a few punches from side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schwerinn advances nicely into full mount.
Mann is trying to escape the mount.
Mann is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Schwerinn cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Schwerinn cracks Mann with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Schwerinn lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Mann is still in real trouble! Can Schwerinn finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Schwerinn loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Mann scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Schwerinn land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Schwerinn stands and salutes the crowd.

After winning the bout, Keith Schwerinn thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
