Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ameri Can (ranked 2343 p4p, 3283 weight class) and Snapple Grapple (ranked 250 p4p, 336 weight class). Can comes into the arena with For Heavy Metal we will die! blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ameri Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Snapple Grapple!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Can enables Grapple to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Can manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Can trying to keep a closed guard but Grapple is proving a slippery customer.
Grapple throws a big right hand that misses.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Grapple working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Can has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Grapple off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Can thows a body kick. Grapple tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Grapple has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Can.

Grapple takes the fight into the clinch.
Grapple blocks the elbow strike.
Grapple fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Can lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Can misses with a hook to the ribs.

It looks like Snapple Grapple has been cut.

Can fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Grapple goes for a takedown in the clinch but Can prevents it.
Grapple is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Can breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Grapple, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Can loads up on a big right hand but Grapple slips the punch.
Grapple drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Grapple is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Can throws an overhand right that lands on Grapple's shoulder, as Grapple tries to avoid the shot.

Grapple manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Can on his heels. He'll look to pass Can's guard now, I'm sure.
Grapple postures up in Can's guard and throws a big left but Can blocks it.
Can is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Can is trying to control the position but Grapple postures up.
Can keeping moving, preventing Grapple from controlling successfully.
Grapple is looking to work some ground and pound but Can has wrist control.

Can is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grapple is controlling him.

Grapple trying to control the position from guard on top but Can is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A big right from Can misses.
Grapple moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Grapple throws out a powerful jab.
Grapple throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grapple misses with a straight right.
Can looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Grapple avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Can avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Can throws a jab when Grapple was well out of range.

and Grapple counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Can is looking to stand up but Grapple isn't so interested in that idea.

Grapple is in close to Can's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Grapple trying to control but Can is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Can looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grapple is one step ahead there.
Can thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Grapple working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Can's head.

Grapple stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Can swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grapple postures up in Can's guard and throws a big left but Can blocks it.
Can is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grapple is controlling him.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ameri Can will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Grapple has his takedown stuffed
and Can makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A big left from Can misses.
Can throws a hook but Grapple blocks it.
Grapple tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Grapple fails with a takedown attempt.
Snapple Grapple seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Can lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Can is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can throws a leg kick but Grapple sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Grapple has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Grapple there as he acknowledges the shot.
Grapple is looking to clinch but Can is avoiding it.
Can looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Grapple shoots in for a takedown but Can shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Can thinks about countering with a head kick.
Ameri Can has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Snapple Grapple.

Can is working Grapple over against the cage.
Can stalling the fight.
Can tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Grapple is looking to take this one to the mat.
Grapple tries for a takedown. No joy.

Can pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Can keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Grapple just misses with a punch to the body.
Grapple throws out a loose jab but Can uses good head movement to avoid it.

Can throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Can breaks the clinch.
Grapple throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Can lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Grapple misses with a wild combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A telegraphed right hand from Can misses the target.
Grapple lands with a hook. Can tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Grapple bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Grapple misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Can.
Can ducks right into an uppercut from Grapple.
Can takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Grapple takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Grapple tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Can defends well and Grapple ends up having to push Can into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Grapple has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Grapple stops Can from getting back to his feet.
Grapple throwing shots but Can is blocking nicely.
Grapple working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Can tries to get to full guard but Grapple has control of the leg.
Can wants to control but Grapple is keeping busy.
Snapple Grapple has got the better of the ground game so far.
Grapple thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Can is trying to stand back up but Grapple is controlling him

Can taking some punishment here, with Grapple in his half guard.
Grapple has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Can is trying to stand.
Grapple looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Can with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Grapple seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Can does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Can keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

A close second round but Snapple Grapple will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Grapple checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Grapple takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Can connects with a body shot that sends Grapple's belly button to the back.
Grapple misses with a takedown attempt - Can sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Grapple gets control of Can's arms and successfully pulls guard. Grapple will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Grapple is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Can is aware though and is defending well.

Grapple escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Can gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Grapple is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Can looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Can preventing the sweep.
Grapple is looking to sweep but instead, Can has passed into half guard.
Can stalling.

Grapple is looking for a sweep. Can is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

and Grapple decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Can's guard.

Can pushes Grapple off and scrambles back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ameri Can showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Can has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ameri Can tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
