Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

It looks like Isaac Newton has been cut.
Newton looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Valdes cracks Newton with an uppercut from hell and Newton crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Valdes's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Valdes wants to stand but Newton is controlling his posture from full guard.
Newton has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Newton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Newton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Newton passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Valdes tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Newton swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
