Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonas Fast (ranked 6367 p4p, 6612 weight class) and Phill James (ranked 627 p4p, 637 weight class). Jonas Fast has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonas Fast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phill James!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing.
A combination from James does no damage.
Fast changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fast sprawls well. Fast wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
Fast definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jonas Fast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fast looks to land a combination but James avoids it well.
Fast fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fast shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. James defends it nicely.
Fast looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Fast persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing.

James connects with a looping right hand.

and Fast counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fast stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fast tries to move into full mount but can't pass James's legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fast takes a little break here. James wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Fast working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Fast wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.

Fast is trying to get an arm triangle but James is defending well.
James stops Fast from passing to mount.

Fast tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fast has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fast tries to advance to mount but James denies him.

Fast is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fast controlling from side mount.

Fast tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fast has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fast thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
James is being controlled here.

Fast is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
James is letting Fast control him for a moment.
Fast connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused James some visible discomfort.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fast trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.
Fast is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down James's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Nice straight punches there by Fast. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Fast.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from James lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Fast has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Fast and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James connects with a body shot that sends Fast's belly button to the back.
Fast moves out of range of the strikes.
Fast blocks a head kick by James.
James tries to clinch

and Fast counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fast is looking to stall here but James recovers full guard.
Fast not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fast is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?

Fast forces his way into half guard.
Fast is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fast tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Fast is trying to work for a kimura but James is defending well.
Fast thows a huge punch but James dodges it nicely.

Fast is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, James has managed to free his arm - good work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fast is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fast is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because James is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fast is looking for a kimura but James is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fast to get the leverage.

Fast is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fast is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for James!
James is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Fast looking to finish with strikes here!

James defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fast.
Fast sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Fast is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but James is surviving well by controlling Fast's body position as best he can.

Fast is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, James has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Fast jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… James is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by James and Fast has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fast. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here.
James manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fast's best efforts.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fast wants to free his trapped foot but James is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Fast is taking a breather. James says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Left hook, right uppercut from Fast.
James lands with a good body shot.

Fast dives in and scores a takedown into James's guard.
Fast wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James wants to stand up but Fast is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fast is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
James keeping moving, preventing Fast from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

James moves to clinch but Fast breaks away

and Fast counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

James wanted to stand there but Fast had control of the position.
James won't allow Fast to sweep him here.

Jonas Fast showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fast, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
