Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simo Halli (ranked 2107 p4p, 3290 weight class) and Macka Briggs (ranked 298 p4p, 434 weight class). Briggs has chosen Stepping Razor by Peter Tosh as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halli shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Briggs is trying to defend but Halli finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Briggs wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Briggs can do anything to dispel that myth.

Halli is working for a kimura but Briggs is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Halli shoots for a double leg takedown but Briggs sprawls well. He's pushed Halli's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Briggs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Halli manages to avoid it.
Simo Halli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Briggs is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Halli is controlling him well.

Briggs pushes Halli away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Halli gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Halli shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Briggs napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Macka Briggs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Halli is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Briggs knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Briggs explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Halli shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Halli is trying to control the action in half guard but Briggs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Halli is working for a submission of some sort.

Halli wants to work for an arm triangle but Briggs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Halli seems to be working for a kimura but Briggs defends the submission attempt.

Halli seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Briggs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Halli looks for a takedown but Briggs sprawls well.

Halli shoots in but Briggs avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Halli feints and as Briggs raises his hands in defense, Halli changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Halli looking to sit in guard and control but Briggs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Halli working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Briggs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Briggs manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Halli has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Briggs is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Halli.

Briggs wants to control the pace but Halli is squirming around nicely.

Briggs avoids the attempt from Halli to control.

Macka Briggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Halli misses with a takedown
and Briggs counters with a stiff right hand.
Halli darts in looking for a takedown but Briggs gets double underhooks and turns Halli into the cage.
Briggs has Halli pressed against the cage, preventing Halli from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Halli pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Halli showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Briggs.
Some bone on bone action there as Halli checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Briggs lands a right hook to the body.
Briggs digs a good hook to Halli's body.
Briggs scores with a one two! Halli had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Briggs lands a nice shot to the body.
Briggs smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from Briggs. Halli does a little dance to reset his feet.
Briggs connects with a stiff jab that staggers Halli - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

An out of breath Macka Briggs thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
