The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like John Aldo has been cut.
Ribeiro connects with a right hand. Aldo shakes it off.
Ribeiro throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Aldo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ribeiro won't be happy with that.

Ribeiro is working to avoid the ground and pound but Aldo connects with a decent elbow.
The referee asks Aldo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Aldo prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ribeiro manages to work his way to half guard, despite Aldo's best efforts.
Aldo content to control rather than advance.
Aldo stops Ribeiro from getting back to his feet.
Aldo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ribeiro on the ground.

Ribeiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Aldo controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ribeiro falls off balance throwing a combination

and Aldo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ribeiro's guard.

Ribeiro looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Aldo is defending well. Ribeiro quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Aldo has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Ribeiro celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
