PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xxx Xxx (ranked 24534 p4p, 22685 weight class) and Emeritus Forge (ranked 0 p4p, 626 weight class). Forge comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Cirice kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Xxx Xxx could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Emeritus Forge's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forge's jab looks to have found its range, popping Xxx under the eye.
Forge connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Xxx misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Xxx gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Forge feints a jab promting Xxx to slip. Forge then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Xxx slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Forge misses with a head kick.
Forge looks to land a combination but Xxx avoids it well.
Forge fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Forge lunges at Xxx with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Xxx's hand.
Forge misses with a two punch combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Forge lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Forge looks to score with a jab to the body but Xxx is just out of range.
Xxx looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Forge connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Xxx's hands.
Oh Xxx is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Forge lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Xxx backs up against the cage.
Forge rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Xxx moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Forge throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Xxx was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Forge misses with a wild combination.
Xxx appears to be looking for a big counter.
Forge keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Forge throws a nice looking combination but Xxx bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Forge just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromXxx.

Forge throws a head kick but Xxx moves out of range.
Xxx jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Forge misses with a few strikes there.
Xxx quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Forge throws a right and a left that both miss.
Xxx went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Forge cracks Xxx with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Forge is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Xxx had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Xxx shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Xxx was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Xxx gets caught flat footed, as Forge shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Forge has gone for a leg lock! Xxx slips out almost immediately though and dives into Forge's guard.

Xxx won't allow Forge to sweep him here.

Forge looking for a guillotine here but Xxx defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Forge is squirming around, avoiding Xxx's attempts to control the action.

and Xxx makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Forge has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Xxx is on him like a limpet, forcing Forge back against the cage.

Forge has Xxx pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Forge pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Xxx tumbling to the mat - Forge dives into Xxx's guard.

Forge isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Xxx stacks Forge on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Xxx!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Xxx wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forge keeps working.
Forge throws a couple of elbows from the bottom.

Forge pushes Xxx away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Xxx gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Forge is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Forge tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Forge is trying to control Xxx's posture but Xxx avoids it.
Forge is working to avoid the ground and pound but Xxx connects with a decent elbow.
Xxx avoids the strikes from the bottom by Forge.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Xxx Xxx.
