Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simo Halli (ranked 2454 p4p, 5144 weight class) and Paddy Quick (ranked 327 p4p, 0 weight class). Paddy Quick will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simo Halli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paddy Quick!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Quick enables Halli to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Quick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Halli's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Halli thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Halli slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Halli forces his way into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Halli looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Quick is defending against the submission attempts here by Halli.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Halli seems to be working for a kimura but Quick defends the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Halli not doing much here.
Quick trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Halli manages to pass to mount!
Halli controlling the position easily from mount.
Halli avoids the attempt from Quick to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Halli is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Quick has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Halli controlling the pace for now.
Quick tries to reverse the position but Halli maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Halli controlling from mount.

Halli working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Halli content just to control the position here.
Quick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Halli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Halli is working for a guillotine from mount but Quick frees his head quite easily.
Quick is looking to get to half guard.

Halli is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Quick to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Quick shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Halli looking for a guillotine from mount but Quick is having none of it.
Quick is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Simo Halli dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Halli shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Quick is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Halli dives into side control.

Halli blocks the strikes from Quick.
Halli slows the pace down.

Halli is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Quick is trying to escape and Halli transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Quick is forced to tap! Nice work there by Halli! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Simo Halli!
Simo Halli seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
