PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Quick (ranked 5110 p4p, 3821 weight class) and David Boo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenny Quick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, David Boo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boo tries to avoid it but Quick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boo to the ground. Boo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boo wants to clinch
and Quick counters with a series of strikes. Boo will be more careful next time no doubt.
Quick has his takedown stuffed

and Boo counters with a right hand that sends Quick tumbling to the canvas! Can Boo finish him? He dives into Quick's guard looking to do just that!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boo throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quick throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Boo escapes and throws Quick's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Boo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Quick looks to move to half guard but instead Boo has passed into mount! Damn!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Let's hope that Boo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Quick is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Quick wants to hold on but Boo pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Quick tries to lock up and control but Boo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quick is trying to escape the mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Quick counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Quick avoids the body shot from Boo.
Quick appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
No joy there for Boo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Quick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Boo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Quick seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Quick blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Quick tries to score a body lock takedown but Boo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Quick has Boo pressed against the cage, preventing Boo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Boo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Quick stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Quick wants it to stay on the feet.
Boo throws a series of punches but Quick moves out of range.
Boo throws a wild body kick that Quick sees coming a mile off.
Boo looks to land a combination but Quick avoids it well.
Boo is looking to clinch.
Quick wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Boo lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Quick at a distance.
Quick tries to clinch up but Boo circles away and keeps his distance.
Boo misses with a head kick.
Quick swats away the attempt to clinch by Boo.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Quick tries for a takedown but Boo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Quick takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

David Boo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Boo moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Quick goes down! Can Boo finish him!?
Boo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Quick working a defensive guard but Boo passes into half guard.

Boo decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Boo instigates a clinch.
Boo is struggling to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Quick tries to pull guard but Boo forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Quick has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Boo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Quick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Boo throws a sloppy head kick and Quick moves out of range easily.
Quick is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Boo.
Boo is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Quick rather than just go for the knockout.
Quick has his takedown stuffed
and Boo counters with a straight right hand.

Quick is rocked!
Boo dances in with a quick combination. Quick is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Boo snaps Quick's head back. Quick stumbles backwards against the cage. Boo steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Quick's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Quick just didn't come prepared.
