PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anni Skystalker (ranked 676 p4p, 1952 weight class) and Tom Bickle (ranked 84 p4p, 206 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anni Skystalker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Bickle!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skystalker lands a leg kick that knocks Bickle off balance momentarily.
Bickle with a nice cross.
Anni Skystalker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bickle pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bickle just misses with a punch to the body.
Bickle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Bickle with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Skystalker to score with a decent uppercut.
Bickle works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Bickle takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

A looping hook to the body misses from Skystalker. Bickle does a little dance to reset his feet.

Skystalker has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Skystalker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bickle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Skystalker somewhat.
Bickle takes a swing at Skystalker's ribcage but misses.
Bickle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Skystalker throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Bickle counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Skystalker has taken the fight to the clinch.
Skystalker lands a hook that snaps the head of Bickle backwards.
Skystalker lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Skystalker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bickle has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Skystalker closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Skystalker lands in his opponent's guard.
Bickle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skystalker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bickle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Skystalker is controlling him.

Skystalker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skystalker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bickle looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Skystalker passes into half guard.
Bickle is looking for a sweep. Skystalker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Skystalker wants to pass to mount but Bickle is defending the position.
Skystalker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bickle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Skystalker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bickle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Skystalker.

Skystalker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bickle has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bickle is not content to let Skystalker control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Skystalker missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bickle is looking to get back to full guard here but Skystalker has managed to pass to side control instead.
Skystalker tries to score with some ground and pound. Bickle controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Skystalker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Skystalker is trying to get an arm triangle but Bickle is defending well.
Skystalker looks up at the clock and then as Bickle takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Skystalker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Skystalker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bickle has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Anni Skystalker dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bickle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Skystalker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bickle. That did some damage!
Nice defenses there by Skystalker.
Bickle slips a straight right by Skystalker.
Bickle moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bickle misses with a straight left.
Bickle keeps the fight on the outside.

and Skystalker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Skystalker closes the distance and clinches.
Bickle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Skystalker has him pressed against the cage.
Bickle blocks an uppercut.

Bickle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skystalker throws an overhand right that lands on Bickle's shoulder, as Bickle tries to avoid the shot.
Bickle scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Skystalker digs a good hook to Bickle's body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Skystalker gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bickle cracks Skystalker with a nice body shot.

Bickle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Skystalker lands the left hand.
Tom Bickle seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bickle smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Skystalker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bickle scores with a shot to the side of Skystalker's head.

Skystalker drags the fight down to the ground.
Skystalker trying to keep a closed guard but Bickle is proving a slippery customer.

Skystalker looking for a triangle here. Bickle is fighting it but it looks tight! Skystalker pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Bickle is tapping out - this one is all over!
