Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Jones (ranked 166 p4p, 2461 weight class) and Philipp Tyurin (ranked 5 p4p, 79 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Philipp Tyurin!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones moves into the clinch.
Tyurin misses with a body punch.
Jones stalling.
Jones pushes Tyurin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jones tries to work over Tyurin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Tyurin blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Tyurin letting Jones take a breather here.
Tyurin tries to throw a body punch but Jones avoids it by throwing Tyurin back against the cage.

Jones is trying to trip Tyurin. He has hold of a leg but Tyurin is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jones persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tyurin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.

Tyurin has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Tyurin has his takedown stuffed
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Philipp Tyurin has been cut.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jones.
Jones lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Philipp Tyurin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tyurin tries to clinch up.
Jones punishes Tyurin's body with a nice straight punch.
Tyurin wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones tries a low kick but Tyurin avoids it.
Jones throws a hook to the side of Tyurin's head but Tyurin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Tyurin. Tyurin gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Tyurin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.
David Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philipp Tyurin.
Tyurin tries to clinch up.
Tyurin fails to land the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tyurin is looking to clinch.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jones is looking to slow Tyurin down with leg kicks.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tyurin moves away.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tyurin.
Tyurin closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Tyurin pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones scores with a body shot.
Tyurin misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
Tyurin looks winded!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tyurin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tyurin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Tyurin tries to clinch up.
Tyurin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tyurin shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

That has opened up Philipp Tyurin's cut even more.

Jones lands a big uppercut and Tyurin crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Tyurin looks OK. Jones waves Tyurin back to his feet!

The cut above Philipp Tyurin's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Tyurin shoots and misses
and Jones scores with a counter punch that sends Tyurin to the canvas! Jones smells blood - he's punishing Tyurin with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Tyurin has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Jones!
David Jones retains his super heavyweight title!
