Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nick Jackson (ranked 6126 p4p, 6892 weight class) and Yakubu Okoroji (ranked 341 p4p, 363 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yakubu Okoroji!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okoroji moves out of range of the strikes.
Okoroji has a takedown stuffed.
Okoroji avoids a kick to the body.
Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Okoroji.
Jackson slaps away a takedown attempt from Okoroji, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jackson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Okoroji darts in looking for a takedown but Jackson gets double underhooks and turns Okoroji into the cage.
Nick Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yakubu Okoroji.
Okoroji misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jackson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Okoroji.
Okoroji shoots in but no luck this time.
Yakubu Okoroji seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson throws a quick inside leg kick.
Okoroji shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense.

Jackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Okoroji shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Okoroji keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Jackson.
Okoroji tries to move into range but Jackson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

It looks like Yakubu Okoroji has been cut.
Okoroji looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
Okoroji throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Okoroji off to one side.
Okoroji misses with a takedown attempt
and Jackson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Okoroji. Okoroji gets slowly back to his feet.
Okoroji shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.
Jackson misses with a low kick.
Jackson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Okoroji stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Okoroji is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Okoroji accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Okoroji on the ground.

Okoroji stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Okoroji has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Okoroji shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jackson looks to land a body kick but Okoroji moved away.
Okoroji shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.
Jackson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Okoroji sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And Okoroji tries to counter it with a takedown but Jackson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Okoroji moves out of range easily.
Jackson leaves Okoroji with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nick Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yakubu Okoroji.
Okoroji shoots in but no luck this time.
Okoroji walks into a straight right hand from Jackson.
Okoroji shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Okoroji looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Okoroji shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Okoroji chips away with some ground and pound.
Okoroji distracts Jackson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Okoroji slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Okoroji throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jackson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Okoroji forces his way into half guard.

Okoroji working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Okoroji is working for a submission of some sort.
Okoroji lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Okoroji not doing much here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Okoroji connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
Jackson wants to control but Okoroji is keeping busy.

Okoroji is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
Okoroji moves nicely into side control.
Jackson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Jackson is looking to reverse the position.
Okoroji works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
Jackson tries to control but Okoroji manages to take his back.
Well, with Okoroji on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Jackson is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Okoroji is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Okoroji lands with a hammerfist to the side of Jackson's head.
Our spies down at at Rage Training inform us that Okoroji has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Okoroji sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Jackson taps out!
