Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mattias Lundgren (ranked 1112 p4p, 1342 weight class) and Stan Shamrock (ranked 151 p4p, 183 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mattias Lundgren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stan Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamrock goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Mattias Lundgren has been cut.
Nice defenses there by Lundgren.
Shamrock has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shamrock throws a combination that misses

and Lundgren counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lundgren slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shamrock wants to control but Lundgren postures up.
Shamrock prevents Lundgren from improving position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shamrock seems a little lost for a moment, as Lundgren dominates the positioning.
Lundgren tries to advance to mount but can't.
Shamrock manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Shamrock avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lundgren.

Lundgren tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lundgren has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lundgren wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shamrock, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lundgren goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Shamrock rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lundgren's guard! Nice work there by Shamrock!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lundgren makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lundgren.

That was a close round but I would say that Mattias Lundgren will probably get the nod.

A nice left hand lands by Shamrock.

Lundgren is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shamrock gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lundgren has picked Shamrock up - he's going for a ride! Lundgren dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Lundgren is stalling here. Shamrock is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lundgren seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shamrock has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Shamrock is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lundgren will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Shamrock has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lundgren!
Shamrock can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lundgren is looking to escape.
Shamrock tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lundgren tries to control Shamrock's body but Shamrock pushes him off. Lundgren squirms to his side and now Shamrock has his back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lundgren turns into Shamrock and is now in his guard.
Lundgren wants to control from the top but Shamrock keeps moving.
Lundgren slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lundgren tries to advance to mount but Shamrock instead regains half guard.
Shamrock won't allow Lundgren to pass to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stan Shamrock will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Shamrock throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lundgren.
Shamrock fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lundgren on the side of the head.

Lundgren shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shamrock is trying to defend but Lundgren finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Shamrock wants to improve his position but Lundgren is controlling well.

Lundgren is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lundgren wants to free his trapped foot but Shamrock is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lundgren looks to land a strike but Shamrock avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Lundgren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shamrock swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lundgren postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shamrock is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lundgren, into his guard.

Lundgren looking for a sweep. Not yet Lundgren, not yet.
Shamrock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shamrock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lundgren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lundgren bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shamrock's guard.

Lundgren advances to half guard.
Lundgren is pressing down on Shamrock's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shamrock is holding on for now.
Shamrock has his hands clasped together around Lundgren's back. He's all about the action.
Lundgren seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shamrock does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Lundgren wants to work for an arm triangle but Shamrock is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shamrock wants to control but Lundgren is keeping busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lundgren is looking for a kimura but Shamrock is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lundgren to get the leverage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lundgren slips a nice elbow through Shamrock's hands, connecting with Shamrock's forehead.

Lundgren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shamrock is just riding it out for now. Lundgren eventually gives up the hold.

Mattias Lundgren decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
