PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stringer Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasiliy Arkhipov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasiliy Arkhipov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stringer Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vasiliy Arkhipov!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.

Bell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Arkhipov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Bell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Arkhipov's guard.

Bell creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Arkhipov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bell goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Arkhipov rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bell's guard! Nice work there by Arkhipov!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bell is trying to keep Arkhipov in close.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Arkhipov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Arkhipov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bell.

No joy there for Arkhipov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Arkhipov is fending him off so far but Bell persists. Nope, Arkhipov circles away and we're back to standing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arkhipov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bell has an Americana. Arkhipov didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bell is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bell hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
