CWC 284 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 25 wins and 17 losses; Judas Priest! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 9 losses; Ruben Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Priest tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gracie defends well and Priest ends up having to push Gracie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Priest has Gracie pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Priest pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gracie tumbling to the mat - Priest dives into Gracie's guard. Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Priest can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gracie wants to sweep here but Priest controlling him for the moment. Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Priest is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Priest not doing much here.

Priest swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gracie is now in Priest's guard. A big mistake from Priest there, giving up the dominant position! Gracie trying to control but Priest is working from the bottom. Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gracie looking to pass the guard. Priest seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Priest is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Priest looking to control but Gracie passes into half guard.

Priest can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gracie controls the pace. Priest bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Priest perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Priest is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Gracie wants to control but Priest is keeping busy and won't allow it. Priest content to control rather than advance. Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Priest is working away from the top position though. Priest trying to pass the guard but Gracie defending well. Gracie manages to get to full guard.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
