PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Perry Black (ranked 4377 p4p, 3430 weight class) and Hannibal Hades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Perry Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hannibal Hades!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hades fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Black, pushing him back against the cage.
Black tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hades avoids it.

Hades gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Black regains guard.
Black manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hades manages to get himself to full guard.

Black works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hades keeping control of the position.

Black is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hades defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hades is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Hades is squirming around, avoiding Black's attempts to control the action.

Black can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hades is looking to escape.
Black throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hades because Black loaded up on that one.
Hades wants to hold on but Black pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hades is in all sorts of trouble here.
Black wants to control the pace but Hades is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Black is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hades is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hades is trying to stand up.
Hades wants to hold on but Black pushes him away.
Hades reaches up to try and control the position but Black seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Hades rolls and tries to escape and now Black has his back!
You can see the frustration on Hades's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hades trying to control the action but Black just sinks the hooks in.

Black is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hades has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Black shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Perry Black is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hades closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Hades has knee on belly momentarily but Black bucks him off and regains half guard.
Well, if Hades is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hades darts in and clinches Black up against the cage.
Black has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hades after a bit of a struggle.

Hades tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Black tries to pull guard but Hades forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Hades manages to break the clinch.
Black shoots in but Hades avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hades throws out a counter right but Black avoids it with no problem.

Hades shoots in and bounces Black off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hades stays in close to Black's body and controls the position.
Hades postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hades controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Black controls Hades momentarily but Hades frees himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Black has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hades can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Black dives in and grabs Hades's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hades pushes down on Black's head and hops out.

Hades pulls Black in close to his closed guard and prevents Black from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hades really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hades is concentrating on defense, preventing Black from advancing position.
Black seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hades does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hades is positioning himself well to prevent Black advancing to mount.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hades gets the takedown into side control.
Black is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hades wants to stand but Black has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Black is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hades pulls his head out easily.
Hades lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Black gets back to full guard.

Black is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hades throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Black's body to avoid the submission. Black has instead reached around Hades's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Black arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
