PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marvin Pirrman (ranked 4353 p4p, 2949 weight class) and Terrance Egergian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terrance Egergian!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pirrman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Pirrman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Egergian explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Pirrman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Egergian, pushing him back against the cage.

Pirrman leaves Egergian with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pirrman lands with a right to the head.

Pirrman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Egergian's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Egergian tries to stall but Pirrman uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Egergian is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Pirrman has denied him.

Pirrman turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pirrman manages to end up in side control.

Pirrman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Egergian looks winded!

Pirrman gets a clinch.

Pirrman tightens his grip and picks Egergian up, before dumping him to the ground. Egergian manages to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pirrman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Egergian not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pirrman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pirrman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pirrman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Egergian is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Egergian has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pirrman seems keen to control Egergian's posture.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Egergian closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pirrman to the mat! Pirrman manages to get full guard.

Pirrman pushes Egergian off and gets back to his feet.

Egergian has his feet on Pirrman's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Egergian scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Egergian is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Egergian tries to close the distance and clinch but Pirrman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pirrman is looking for a counter combo.
Egergian dives in and grabs Pirrman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pirrman pushes down on Egergian's head and hops out.

Pirrman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Egergian on the ground.

Egergian takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Egergian darts in looking for a takedown but Pirrman gets double underhooks and turns Egergian into the cage.
Marvin Pirrman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Egergian throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pirrman's waist but Pirrman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Egergian off to one side.
Egergian tries to clinch up but Pirrman circles away and keeps his distance.

Pirrman connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Egergian is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pirrman is defending well.

Pirrman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Egergian shoots in looking for a takedown. Pirrman tries to sprawl out of it but Egergian keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pirrman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As Egergian tries to get set, Pirrman tries to push him back and clinch up but Egergian manages to avoid the attempt.

Pirrman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Egergian was covering up waiting for the punch and Pirrman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Pirrman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Egergian quickly recovers to half guard.

Egergian has one foot on Pirrman's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Pirrman walks forward, straight into a front kick from Egergian.
Pirrman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Egergian swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pirrman has taken the fight to the clinch.

Marvin Pirrman has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Pirrman lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Pirrman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Egergian takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Egergian tries to stall but Pirrman uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Egergian wants to get back to striking at distance but Pirrman won't allow it.
Pirrman is pushing Egergian up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Pirrman lands a takedown into guard.

Egergian pushes Pirrman off and scrambles back to his feet.

Pirrman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Egergian is trying to defend but Pirrman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Pirrman has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well, if Pirrman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

It looks like Pirrman is going to stand back up.

Pirrman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pirrman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Pirrman.
Pirrman wants to pass the guard but Egergian is defending well.
Pirrman is thwarting Egergian's attempts to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Egergian wants to control the action here but instead Pirrman manages to pass to full mount!
Terrance Egergian has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pirrman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
