Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Burns!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Burns 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Burns looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Burns throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Burns throws a jab but it's blocked by Martinez.
Martinez throws the left hand but Burns avoids the punch easily.

Burns shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Burns looking to sit in guard and control but Martinez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Martinez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Burns keeping moving, preventing Martinez from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burns is on top in guard.

We've been hearing that Burns has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Burns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Burns lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Burns throwing strikes but missing.
Martinez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burns.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martinez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Burns trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Martinez is keeping the position.
Martinez is trying to control the position but Burns postures up.
Our spies down at at The Gulag Public Gym inform us that Martinez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Burns forces his way into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Martinez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Burns scores with a couple of nice shots.
Martinez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Burns.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martinez keeps working.
Burns looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Martinez taking some punishment here, with Burns in his half guard.
Martinez has hold of Burns's hands but Burns slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Burns is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Martinez defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Burns looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Martinez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Martinez is looking to control Burns's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Martinez avoid being mounted?
Burns keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Burns is nestled in close to Martinez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Martinez is looking to improve his position.
Burns is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martinez won't allow Burns to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burns wants to control but Martinez is keeping him busy.
Burns working Martinez over with strikes.
Martinez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Martinez is rocked!
Burns is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Martinez is hurt! He's hurt bad - Burns fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Martinez from any more punishment! Congratulations to Burns! Great finish!

A very excited looking Brian Burns made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Mike Martinez stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well I know i lost tonight,but i will comeback better next time,fuck it'.
