PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Biscuit Oliva (ranked 972 p4p, 685 weight class) and David Scott (ranked 135 p4p, 101 weight class). Oliva's entrance music is Vo Williams - Primal (ft. Vyceroy). A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Biscuit Oliva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Scott!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliva misses the shot to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Scott throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scott throws a jab when Oliva was well out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Scott has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Oliva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
As Scott backs away, Oliva returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Scott goes for a double leg but Oliva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Oliva continues to drive forward.
Scott cracks Oliva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Oliva throws out a leg kick but Scott moves out of range and Oliva only half commits.
Scott takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oliva throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Scott on the side of the head.

Oliva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Biscuit Oliva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Scott.
Scott throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Oliva sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It looked like Oliva wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Scott tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oliva swivels and escapes.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Oliva tries to clinch there but Scott circles away.

Scott's corner calls for a 1-2. Scott obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Oliva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Oliva sprawls well. Oliva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Scott gets slowly back to his feet.

Scott closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Oliva quickly recovers to half guard.
Oliva wants to control but Scott is keeping busy.
Oliva is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Scott is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Oliva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Oliva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Oliva tries to get out of the position.
Scott is trying to control the action in half guard but Oliva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Scott passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Oliva!

Scott is working for a guillotine from mount but Oliva frees his head quite easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

David Scott dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Oliva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scott.

A nice side step and Scott releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Scott throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oliva takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
David Scott seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Scott gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Oliva was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oliva pushes Scott off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Oliva.

Oliva lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Oliva throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Scott stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Biscuit Oliva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Scott.
Oliva clobbers Scott with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Oliva has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scott ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Scott shoots in and bounces Oliva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Oliva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's time! Oliva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Scott drops back, looking for a kneebar! Oliva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Oliva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Oliva!

Oliva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working.
Scott is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Oliva in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Oliva decides to stand back up.
Oliva missing with a left hand there. Scott was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Scott looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Biscuit Oliva.
