PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Bravo (ranked 2690 p4p, 4341 weight class) and Hans Muller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonny Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hans Muller!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Bravo as he connects with a hook.
Bravo takes a swing at Muller's ribcage but misses.
Muller fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A big left from Bravo misses.
Bravo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Muller.
Muller slips under a jab.
Good shot there by Bravo.
Muller on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Bravo misses with a wild body shot.
Muller misses with a double jab.

Muller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bravo quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Muller keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Muller wants to pass the guard but Bravo is defending well.
Muller is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bravo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Muller perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Bravo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Muller pulls his head out easily.
Muller stalling.
Bravo gets back to full guard.
Muller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Bravo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Muller has passed into half guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bravo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Muller is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bravo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Muller is aware though and is defending well.

Bravo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Muller is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Muller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Muller working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Bravo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Muller passes into side control.
Bravo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Bravo is looking for a sweep.
Bravo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Muller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Bravo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Muller off and has taken his back!
Despite being in a bad position, Muller is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Muller tries to roll but Bravo sticks to his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bravo is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Muller has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Even with his hooks in, Bravo manages to miss with strikes from the back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Bravo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Muller rushes Bravo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Muller.
Muller is stalling here.
Muller continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Muller turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Muller manages to end up in side control.
Hans Muller has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bravo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Muller with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bravo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Muller.
Muller wants to take a breather but Bravo is having none of it.
Bravo tries to roll over but Muller keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if Muller is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bravo.
Muller wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.

Bravo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Muller defends it easily.
Muller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bravo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Muller controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Muller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Bravo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Muller defends well.
Muller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bravo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Muller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Bravo is tightening it up a little... Muller has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Muller reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Muller taps out! Nice BJJ there by Bravo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jonny Bravo!
