The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes lands with a shot to the body.
MccGregor fails with an attempt to clinch.

MccGregor dives in for a single leg takedown but Barnes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Barnes as the two fighters clinch.
Barnes lands a shot to the body.
MccGregor is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Barnes is defending well for now.
Barnes tried to land a shot to the body but connects with MccGregor's elbow.

MccGregor's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for MccGregor.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Barnes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Barnes has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Barnes digs a right hand into MccGregor's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on MccGregor's gas tank.
MccGregor is breathing heavily.

MccGregor looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

MccGregor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barnes.

Barnes closes the distance and pushes MccGregor back into the cage.
Barnes throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Barnes will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning MccGregor up against the cage.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Barnes.

Barnes lands a takedown into guard.
Barnes is standing up over MccGregor. MccGregor looks to escape but Barnes dives into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barnes has hold of MccGregor's arm. He's looking for a kimura. MccGregor seems comfortable defending it but Barnes has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! MccGregor is real pain and he's forced to tap out! MccGregor is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Barnes couldn't care less - he's delighted!
