PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Kross (ranked 4434 p4p, 4615 weight class) and Charles Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Charles Jackson!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson moves to clinch but Kross breaks away
and Kross counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jackson goes for a double leg but Kross avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kross continues to drive forward.
Jimmy Kross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Jackson.
Jackson misses with a double jab.
Kross half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Kross tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jackson defends well and Kross ends up having to push Jackson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kross just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kross is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jackson to keep the fight standing.
Kross is trying to drag Jackson to the mat but Jackson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kross is looking to take this one to the mat.

Jackson presses Kross against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kross fails to pull guard.
Jackson tries to circle away but Kross has him pinned against the cage.
Jackson throws a punch but it's blocked by Kross.

Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
As Jackson tries to get set, Kross tries to push him back and clinch up but Jackson manages to avoid the attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kross moves into range and clinches up with Jackson.

Kross throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jackson.

Kross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?
Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kross is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Kross circles away and we're back to standing.
Jimmy Kross is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kross has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jackson uses from the top position.
Kross will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kross is looking to stand up but Jackson isn't so interested in that idea.
Kross is trying to hold Jackson in close to prevent damage but Jackson has managed to pass into half guard.

Kross is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jackson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Jackson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kross breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kross has closed the distance and engaged Jackson in a clinch.
Kross has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jackson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kross pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kross shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense.
Kross circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kross.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kross stuns Jackson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kross avoids it really well and circles away.
Jackson leaves Kross with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kross shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kross moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
