Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Yani (ranked 6047 p4p, 4676 weight class) and Jing Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frankie Yani has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frankie Yani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jing Kong!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yani lands a nice hook to Kong's body. Kong takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kong takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Yani fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kong with a poor takedown
and Yani counters with a nice uppercut.

Kong shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yani pinned against the cage. Yani gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kong fails with a takedown attempt.
Frankie Yani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jing Kong.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yani connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yani's waist but Yani gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kong off to one side.

Yani cracks Kong with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Yani clobbers Kong with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yani tries to avoid it but Kong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yani to the ground. Yani escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kong has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Yani.

Kong drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yani tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yani is pulling down on Kong's head. It's preventing any offense from Kong, at least for the moment.
Kong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yani is keeping the position for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yani tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kong controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kong has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA New York. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Kong wants to pass the guard but Yani is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yani lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Yani shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Yani has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

We've been hearing that Yani has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kong is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Yani rolls with it to try and escape but Kong cranks on the arm and Yani is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jing Kong!
