Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Whatts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthews is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Drown in the Now. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whatts avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Whatts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Whatts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Whatts showed some decent athleticism there. Whatts looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Matthews with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Matthews gets back to full guard.
Matthews lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Whatts lands a couple of elbows. Whatts working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Matthews is trying to keep Whatts in close.
Matthews has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Whatts is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Matthews has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Whatts is looking to defend but Matthews has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Whatts! Matthews pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Whatts taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Matthews!
