Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jach Bresnar (ranked 2902 p4p, 2173 weight class) and Julian Rivera (ranked 363 p4p, 281 weight class). Julian Rivera struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bresnar lands a nice shot to the body.
Bresnar connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
No joy there for Bresnar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bresnar sizes up Rivera with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Rivera avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rivera with the counter takedown but Bresnar avoids it easily.

Bresnar moves into the clinch.
Rivera jumps guard but Bresnar stands there with Rivera around his waist. Rivera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bresnar breaks from the clinch.
Rivera blocks a head kick by Bresnar.
Bresnar throws a leg kick but Rivera sees it coming and moves out of range.

Bresnar throws out a powerful jab.
Bresnar scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bresnar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rivera tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Rivera drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Rivera is rocked!
Bresnar throws a quick inside leg kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rivera has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bresnar has managed to clinch.
Rivera tries to pull guard but Bresnar forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Rivera jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bresnar walks away with a smile on his face. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jach Bresnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Rivera.
Nice sprawl there from Bresnar as Rivera shoots in.
Bresnar feinted there with a counter leg kick.

Bresnar wants to slow Rivera down by chopping away at his legs.
And Rivera tries to counter it with a takedown but Bresnar pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Jach Bresnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bresnar looks to land a body kick but Rivera moved away.
Rivera changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've been told by Bresnar's head coaches at whitey's gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Bresnar drops Rivera with a big left hand! Rivera is injured, injured bad! Bresnar jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
