Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vick Venom (ranked 3686 p4p, 3680 weight class) and Rick Martel (ranked 444 p4p, 442 weight class). Martel has chosen Beautiful People by - Marilyn Manson as his entrance music. Rick Martel has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Venom counter with a right hand.
Martel clinches up with Venom and pushes him back against the cage.
Venom is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Martel has Venom pressed against the cage.
Venom takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Vick Venom has been cut.
Venom tries for a takedown but Martel manages to get underhooks.

Martel lands with a light punch inside.
Venom has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Martel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vick Venom. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Martel told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Venom could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Martel lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Venom backwards.
Venom is rocked!
Martel scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Oh Venom is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Martel stops a takedown attempt from Venom.
Venom is pressed against the cage. Martel pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Venom! Two more big strikes from Martel and Venom crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Rick Martel!
A less than humble Rick Martel misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
