Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Guy Bernier (ranked 4451 p4p, 5989 weight class) and Ryan Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Reeves's choice of entrance music: I'll Face Myself. Ryan Reeves is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bernier darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Reeves wants to get back to full guard but Bernier has mounted him!

Reeves tries to hold on but Bernier pushes him away.
Bernier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bernier connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Reeves is working to get back to half guard.
Reeves is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bernier postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reeves looks a forlorn figure.

Bernier misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Reeves is trying desperately to improve position.

Bernier looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Bernier wants to stand up but Reeves is controlling the position.

Bernier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Reeves wants to improve his position but Bernier is controlling well.

Bernier is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Reeves has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Bernier could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Reeves wants to control but Bernier is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reeves moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Bernier controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reeves tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bernier wants to stand but Reeves has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Reeves has an active guard here but Bernier has managed to pass into half guard.
Reeves wants to get back to full guard.
Reeves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bernier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bernier slips a nice elbow through Reeves's hands, connecting with Reeves's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bernier is pressing down on Reeves's thigh, looking to free his foot. Reeves is holding on for now.
Reeves tries to roll over but Bernier keeps him under control.
Reeves wants to control but Bernier is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bernier shoots in for a double leg but Reeves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Bernier manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Reeves on his heels. He'll look to pass Reeves's guard now, I'm sure.

Reeves is looking for a triangle but Bernier pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reeves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bernier is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reeves pulls his head out easily.

Reeves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bernier has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Reeves has managed to get both his arms back between Bernier's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reeves wants to control from the top but Bernier keeps moving.

Reeves throws a sloppy strike and Bernier has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Reeves is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Bernier!
